Recall

Philips recall on cpap equipment.

A massive recall is over three months into a twelve month process. Although some are getting new or replacement equipment... Still many of the estimated 3 million are still waiting. Waiting basically in the dark as to when individual issues will be resolved. I must be one of the lucky ones since the process is thought to be totally random. I got a brand new Dreamstation 2 to replace my Dreamstation 1.  Like others have posted... All of a sudden, there arose such a clatter followed by  the sight of a FedEx van pulling into the drive way without any notice.

Wishing everyone a great holiday season. I've been checking my email everyday and even though I'd never hear those famous words... "You've got mail"... I check, looking for any encouraging word from Philip's, every day. Today Without notice... FedEx in my driveway... Got a new DS2. Was not set up, SD card didn't transfer set up. Looked up you tube video how to set up. Very helpful. Therapy settings are not the same as DS1. Some parameters for auto cpap not to my liking. My auto set is 13.5-15. But the DS2 sets the ramp starting at 10 for a minumun of 15 minutes. Arggg! I've been on cpap for 20 years. The ramp up starting at 10, like for newbies is not my preference. However was able to adjust some of the start air flow/pressure by changing the mask setting to the lowest setting on resistance. Hopeful it corrects the issue. Good thing they included an adapter from the 12mm hose to 15mm... Makes it compatible with my ResMed N20 nasal cushion/mask. Just in time for christmas.
Hopefully Philips will resolve everyone's recall quickly.
Y'all have a great Christmas.

Other options if you are still waiting.
One... But a ResMed unit.  $$$$
Two..  if you are mechanically inclined you have 2 options via Amazon sellers. A new air chamber with safe foam ( supposedly the same foam that's in ResMed units), or a foam free air chamber. You can install them yourself. The kit comes with tools. Check out you tube video on how to do it. A bit tedious, be meticulously very careful. $30. The form unit runs very silent.  They say the foam free chamber is only a bit more noisy but acceptable.

Of course the last option is to wait for Philips... They plan to be completed by September 2022.
