Disney Magic ?
What are people saying? What do they think?
When you ask people how they feel, or what they think, generally the ones that have strong feelings on the topic will respond in the majority. And in this case I'd have to agree. But think what you will.
Over the past several years, especially the last 3, too many things have changed. Admission price has gone up, and there's even higher prices during peak times. Add to this the many things that were once free or included, are now being offered for extra prices. Fast Passes, resort hotel parking, and Magical Express from the airport or the cruise ship, all now having extra charges. Cumbersome reservations for the parks, dining, lightening lanes ( New name for fast passes) are creating regimented routines and eliminating spontaneity in your visits, and at times keep you for setting out doing favorite things. Having to be somewhere at set times through out the day. Cutbacks in attractions either for refurbishment or simply being temporary eliminated ads up to less of an experience... Some attractions being completely eliminated. Some old favorites now gone. Construction, like at Epcot is extensive and on going. Special packages for tours and dining that include priority seating or priority attraction admission give even more benefits, for additional prices, for those that can afford all the extra prices, to the detriment of those that can't, making wait times even longer for everything. Those that can pay for extra privileges have a Magical experience... Those that can't suffer the crowds.
In the past...
With the exception of special VIP privileges, that were kept extremely low keyed that no one would notice, everything was on an even playing field. Now... Lots of extra money buys lots of extra privileges. So for the average guests, much of the Disney magic is fading fast, or is mostly gone. Disney has the philosophy that if they raise prices and add extra add on charges, it will control over crowding and make a for better experience. In reality, crowds are as large as ever, wait times have not gotten any better, and Disney is banking more and more money. What's ahead? Disney will become the feature attraction for the rich and famous.
But, I guess it all depends on who you listen to.
