Campground Christmas. Many rvers , especially full time rvers put out decorations during different seasons... This is especially true at Christmas. I've been asked why go to all that trouble. Well, no matter where we are at, and no matter how long we are staying in a particular place, it's our home, and our yard. Most people that are simply on vacation or traveling short term don't bother decorating their RV or yard, they have a home somewhere. Full time rvers and even snowbirds have a greater sense that our home is where we park the RV, and we want it to feel like home.
Spending many winters in Florida, and in the south, I can say that most southerners don't decorate even a fraction of what you see in the north. In fact, the southern campgrounds are usually decorated much better than most southern communities. Why? Because campgrounds in the South, in the winter, are filled with people escaping from the colder north... and they are use it decorating their homes, and now their RV site and RV, especially at Christmas. Plus it adds to the overall feeling that even though the snowbirds are away from their homes up north, this is their home and their community for the winter. In fact, the winter community in the campgrounds is tighter than those generally back home. Back home, up north, you perhaps socialize with a hand full of your neighbors. Winter campgrounds filled with full time rvers and snowbirds... well, it's like that old phrase... everybody knows your name. One hundred plus RV sites and effective knows you name... What a nice feeling. The campground clubhouse is the hub of social activities that draws everyone together. Events, cookouts, pot luck dinners, celebrations, and winter holidays all bring the entire rving campground community together. So whether short term snowbirds, or full time rvers, decorations for Christmas is a special time of the season. And perhaps, to make it feel more like home, the decorations go a little over the top. But it looks so festive. Great lifestyle, especially during the winter.
