200 years verses 2000 years. It's hard to imagine being in a country that has 2000 years of history and scattered over the centuries, thousand upon thousands of structures that dot the landscapes.
Here in theses here United States, European structures only little more than 200 years... some back to the 1700s, but even so, in the scope of things, there are few structures remaining. Cities and urban areas tear down and rebuild. Countryside structures of wood are usually torn down or burned down, and the few that remain simply rot away and are solely being reclaimed by nature.
I'm sure this same process happens in the great European countries, but stone structures from many centuries still stand, even if abandoned. Setting photos of magnificent castles and villas with such amazingly wonderful architecture and hand crafted designs abandoned to simply decay away... well, it seems unimaginable that something that grand could simply be walked away from an abandoned.
Nevertheless beautiful even when decaying away. Must be something to experience in person. Here, they are mostly old wood buildings rotting away and falling apart, most plainly normal, uncharacteristic, and not interesting at all... nothing special. Here in the country, old wooden farm houses, barns, and old stone grain solos dot the farmlands. Nothing as grand as the castles of Europe or the villas of Italy. Seems such a waste... But it is was it is. He's a few photos that amaze me.
