As the world turns... And climate changes.
If you live long enough, you will notice changes in the climate first hand. Most dramatic for me? When I was growing up there were four distinct seasons. Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. And while today they exist on the calendar, they are not what they use to be. Now, we seem to have 5 months of hot summer, 5 months of cold winter, and only a month or so of fall and spring during the transition from winter to summer.
Bad weather and natural disasters seem to be more frequent and more intense on effect and duration.
Historical records of weather as well as geological records indicate extreme changes over thousands of years.
So... Where's the surprise when these extreme weather events occur? Yes they are tragic as destruction and deaths continues to escalate... but why is there this sense of surprise as if no one thought that this could happen?
Some low lying coastal cities are already experiencing rises on normal ocean levels and more intense weather events with tidal surge and coastal flooding.
It's all in a cycle of the earth... Ocean levels will continue to rise and the face of the earth will once again change, redrawing the map of the land, and converting entire areas. But not to worry... We will not see the most drastic effects in our life time... or at least I certainly hope not.
Projections when all the polar ice is melted into the oceans...
