Social unrest. Almost 160 years later, the civil war is the focus of racial equality, racism, and social division. The causes of the war, as brought forth by the wealthy in political control, was without any doubt about slavery. Those in control of the confederate south, the wealthy & political leaders, wanted to maintain a slave state. HOWEVER...The overwhelming vast majority of soldiers that unwhitingly faught for the confederate slave cause, were feed an agenda filled propaganda that southern men needed to fight to against northern oppression. The "lost cause idealism" was used to justify and inspire southern men to join and fight against the northern government that ruled with tyrannical political aspirations. Propaganda that gave numerous reasons to fight against the tyrannical north, and how that northern oppression would impact & change everyone in the south... the people, their families, their homes, their way of life. In fact, if slavery was abolished, only a small percentage of families in the south would be affected... the wealthy. But the vast majority that fought & died did so under the false illusion of a noble cause, not slavery. FACT: The overwhelming vast majority of soldiers, both north & south, were NOT fighting over the slavery issue. The north fought to preserve the union, the south fought under the false idea if the "lost cause ideology" propaganda. Even after the war ended, the south still tried to justify the secession and war based not on slavery, the true cause, but states rights and the oppression of the northern government.
Once again, as history has shown over and over again, the small percentage in control will govern and control the masses as to their own agendas, and get the average man to do the fighting for them.
Today's social unrest again is being influenced by an agenda to condemn all confederate soldiers... destroy their memory, their statues, and their monuments. Condemn the confederate leaders & wealthy and the idea of slavery... not the average confederate soldiers that fought under misguided concepts & ideas that was brought forth by their political leaders. The greatest loss of America lives... 620,000 died because of the influence & control of the southern wealthy... a vastly small percentage of people. It's probably safe to assume that because of a mere couple hundred southern wealthy land owners and the political leaders, 620,000 of the nations men died for their greed.
DON'T CONDEMN THOSE THAT FOUGHT AND DIED OVER YOUR MISINTERPRETATION OF THE FACTS... AND WHO WAS REALLY TO BLAME.
