History is not always whatvwe were told. Sometimes I wonder if any written history is 100% accurate. While some is outright deceptive and totally misleading.
Christopher Columbus and what history writes about him is filled with false claims and appalling omissions.
First off... the powers to be, Europeans... lay claim to saying Columbus discovered America. He was in fact NOT the first to travel to America. Perhaps out of England, France, Spain, he may have been the first credited, which is still questionable... but nit the first. In fact he didn't originally make it to north america... he landed on a Caribbean island. Vikings and perhaps others visited north america before columbus.
BUT WE STILL CELEBRATE A NATIONAL HOLIDAY IN HIS HONOR.
Speaking of honor... nothing is taught in history that he actually started the African slave trade, trafficking black africans to the Americas.
Columbus and his crew took advantage of indigenous peoples to sell as slaves to work the fields and mines, but sold for rapes and sex slaves, some as young as 10 years old.

SO HOW IS HE A NATIONAL HERO FOR SOMETHING HE DIDN'T DO...
AND NOT CONDEMNED FOR THE ATROCITIES AGAINST HUMANITY THAT HE PERPETRATED.
AND WHY IN TODAYS SOCIAL TENSION ABOUT SLAVERY IS HE NOT CONDEMNED?
