Air Travel Woes...
Wow, over two thousand fights cancelled this past weekend. Under staffed and needing more employees, flights are being cancelled in record numbers. Like just about every business from grocery stores, to restaurants, to Walmart, and distribution services... they are still hurting for help. Covid situations from fear to vaccination mandates along with those sitting home still collecting unemployment , not wanting or willing to work when they can get something for nothing, or work at a job that's beneath then... all companies are in need of help. Of course from my stand point, the government needs to stop unemployment in many cases, forcing these people to go to work, to fill these job openings. When Shopping in Walmart, some shelves are empty. The entire fresh egg section was almost completely empty, and when I talk to an employee about it, they said there plenty in the warehouse, they don't have help to select merchandise, or load trucks, or driver trucks, and when it does get to the store, not enough employees to stock the shelves. Local restaurants closed some evenings because they don't have help.
But back to the airlines... Thousands of passengers left stranded in airports this past weekend. The holidays are coming and the potential problems are certainly going to get worse. You will have difficulties getting a fight out, and even more issues getting back... Possibly delayed for days trying to get back home. As for myself, I'm staying on the ground. Would love to see family, but I'm not going to deal with those issues.
But people will book fights, despite the probable issues, get caught up in the mess of cancellations, and be angry that it happens to them.
Best advice, if you can't live with cancellations and delays which may last for days... Stay home. If you travel, expect delays, and don't yell "foul" when things don't go your way. You are going to be caught up in the travel mess. You decide, you take the risk, don't complain, you were warned, and no one is going to feel sorry for you.
Aside from this... Enjoy the upcoming holidays.
