Stone

Stone... It's forever.

Stone is forever.  Stone can simply be piled up to make simple structures or advanced construction to build majestic buildings and monuments. It can be shaped and put together using unimaginable techniques precision. It may be ancient ruins left in disarray or remain in their an almost pristine state. Wood structures will eventually decay and disappear.  Concrete and even steel will crumble, rust and decay to the elements.  But since it's forever.
Man has used stone from the earliest of times to shape his environment. From self made caves to pyramids and castles. Some structures simply exist with unknown origins and meanings. Construction techniques that could not be duplicated today.  All leaving more questions than giving up few answers.  Nevertheless,  stone is forever. If left to nature, as if man disappeared,  thousands of years into the future,  all that would remain would be stone.  Just something to think about in this advanced technological age that we live in.
Somewhere in the distant future... All that will remain is stone.
