Many times, some of the simplest joys in life is food. Something new and delicious is always a treat. Something that you've enjoyed since childhood is a special treat. Especially if you have the rare situation that over the years it remains as enjoyably unchanged and just as good as you remember. Few things a rarely as good as they were from years ago... They are down sized and cheapened versions of what they once were. Here's something that flourished in popularity when I was a child but still remains here today. Taylors Pork Roll... a Mid-Alantic state delight that was a favorite choice, and must have whenever you went to Ocean City. Still available in the old style canvas covered chub. What a delight... but perhaps you had to grow up enjoying the delightful unique flavor of pork and spices compacted into a chub, ready to slice, fry, and enjoy. Great by itself on a soft bun with a little mustard or perhaps cheese ( good cheese like Land O Lakes, not that rubbery crap). Also good as an egg, cheese, and porkroll sandwich. Yep, one of those simple joys of life. Why is it so good? Not only the unique flavor, which is no doubt not a healthy choice, but the that it takes you back to great times in childhood. Perfection.
