Today's travels took us across the chesapeake bay bridge to Maryland's eastern shore to visit friends. What a nice drive. I lived in Maryland for 50 years and traveled across the Bay Bridge all my life. I even walked across it twice. I watched a show on the ten most scariest bridges in America, the Bay Bridge was not only on the list, but I believe was number one. This was somewhat amazing to me. There are many people that are terrified to drive across the bridge and pay to be escorted across by someone driving their car for them. Some will never even under any circumstance go across the bridge. The length, the height, and seemingly endless trek high over open water apparently is too much. Now it is a bit unnerving to stop on the bridge. At a dead stop you can easily feel the bridge sway and moving. And, the longer you're trapped there, not moving, swaying 186 feet above the bay, the greater the anxiety. Kinda like being in a plane in bad conditions... You're either gonna make it, or not... and there's nothing you can do about it. So just enjoy the view. And the view is great.
