So what was discovered? Well America of course... but solely from a European perspective. Which wasn't completely accurate since explorers from other European countries that obvious didn't count, actually came to America long before Columbus...but they really didn't count I guess. In any event the the common belief and teachings is that Columbus discovered America. Not withstanding this, how do you take credit for discovering something when hundreds of thousands of people were already here. History is just what the writer of history wants it to be... or what ruling authority wants it to be. Before this great discovery, hundreds of native American tribes were already here. Here's a basic map of them. Of course the history following this great discovery resulted in one of the greatest genocides of people and cultures encompassing all of the Americas.... North, Central, and South America. Of course it was completely justified because European countries wanted land, riches, and to spread their Christian beliefs. In any event, history justified it all.
