Four years has passed since the movement to "cancel history" as it related to the civil war and the Confederacy which saw the renaming of schools, parks, streets, public buildings, and military bases. This movement also mandated removal of statues and monuments related to the civil war and the Confederacy and the issue of slavery.
It created an emotionally charged anger, violent, and destructive environment where they justified riots, destroy property, and even desecrate cemeteries and gravestones... as well as destroying monuments.
Now, four years later, those seeking to cancel history have the same issues as they did before the changes. They are still feel offended, still feel oppressed, the quality of their life has not improved, and their mental and emotional wellbeing has not improved. Their social status, economic status, and basic housing and employment situations have not improved. So what did it all gain?
It accomplished several things: Created more social division.
It created a false sense that they are owed something today, due to events 160 years ago.
It created a false sense that they are owed something today, due to events 160 years ago.
It created a political environment where politicians will side with any offended group to get their vote.
It created an elevated government welfare state to falsely compensate those offended by giving away more handouts... Essentially rewarding those that are offended, and enabling politicians to by votes.
It created an atmosphere justifying the thoughts & feelings of those that are oppressed and blame history for their negative in their life.
It created more negative emotional responses to anything not in accordance with their beliefs or anything not to their liking.
So what did they gain? Nothing other than the belief that they are self entitled and expect and can force their beliefs upon others... and that society owes them something.
