Every once in a while you find a candy store that sells old fashioned candy from the middle of the last century. Went to Westfield Mall in Annapolis Maryland. Absolutely huge mall. Filled with high end preppy clothes, jewelry, perfumes, suncglasses, and everything else expensive that you can think of. Very little, like maybe 5 stores that would interest me. One was a candy store that has all sorts of speciality candy... And a table with old fashioned candy. Childhood favorites... brings back memories. One such candy was "mary janes".
Now half the size of the originals. Growing up we called them penny candies, because they cost one cent. There were numerous penny candy choices. So it was nice to find penny candy once again... Even if they were now half the size. So I bought 8 of the Mary janes at the bargain price of $1.26. 8 pieces of half sized penny candy... That's 4 cents worth... For $1.26. Such is life... 70 years later.
Quite the price the pay for some minor savage kicks.
