Curiosity

Curiosity can be a strange thing...

There's the overwhelming desire to continue. To discover things that you never knew existed... to in your mind, go to strange new places.
Then there's the unknown... And a warning that intrigues you and tells you to throw caution to the wind... but tells of dire consequences if you continue. So... Do you believe in things beyond a rational world? Are you going to listen to that little voice telling you to go no further? Or will your rational  mind compel you to continue... despite unnatural fears?   Myself, I will give pause for several moments... Perhaps days... Before reading any further.
After all they said... No harm ever came from reading a book. As I recall,  that didn't work out to good in the movie. But that was make believe.
This book was dated to 1692. Another thing that should necessitating continuing with caution. Perhaps tomorrow.
Clearly tonight is not there time. Miles from town, and no one lives beyond the town... no one would come to help you... This far from town... in the dead of the night. So if you are daring and adventurous... turn out the lights... light some candles... and read the book by the light of the fireplace.
What could possibly go wrong... here... alone... In the dead of the night. Is that dried blood on the book?  Take the dare...
Maybe I watch too many spooky movies.
