Disney past

It's a quiet relaxing evening...
74° with a light breeze... Absolutely perfect.

Reflecting back on the past...
cause that what you do when you get older.

Thinking back on twenty years of full time rving.
What do I miss the most... Disney.

For 8 years as cast members we got unlimited access to the parks anytime we wanted. Have seen it all too many times to count. It's hard to say what we miss the most. Magic kingdom was always a classic. But just to go into a park to relax and enjoy an evening, we mostly choose Epcot. Watch a show, enjoy a ride, and just walk around world showcase. Enjoy a meal or snack, and attend one of the several festivals thought out the year. And of course the fireworks. So many vivid memories of everything. So much so, that with all the changes to the parks, it would be disappointing to miss everything that is gone, or changed. Of course there's new stuff... But it would be out weighed by all that's gone. So any visit to Disney now seems unlikely... at least for us. Then there's the issues of costs... once pretty much within everyone's financial reach... now middle class can only afford to go  every 5 years instead of every 2. Now you have to be in the upper middle class and well to do to comfortably afford to go to Disney. Disney kept raising prices to control crowds... That didn't work except to give mickey more money while the parks remained crowded with long wait times for everything. And disney started charging more for everything including food and merchandise. Things that were once free, now had an extra cost. So with price increases 3 - 4 times that of normal inflation,  prices have gotten unreasonable.

One of the most enjoyable times was walking around Epcot at night. Just chilling and relaxing with no real agenda or plans. As they would say... Foot loose and fancy free.  Yep,  that's another one of this sayings that you heard as a child, and when you try to analyze it doesn't make much sense at all.

But even still, missing everything that is gone. The Epcot fountain of nations. Epcot Illuminations fireworks. Epcot elaborate Christmas decorations. The full blown parades at Magic Kingdom. The Osborne Christmas at Studios. The Night Time Parade SpectroMagic at Magic Kingdom. Among many other things.

I can't see trip to Disney in our future. But for first time or infrequent visitors, it would still be enjoyable.
