How?

How is this discriminatory?

My bad habit is to put on the news first time in the morning. So with a clear mind,  I get exposed to yet another report of racial discrimination.  This happens everyday.

In the news this morning there was a report on pool and swimming safety. And how everyone, especially kids should learn to swim.
Certainly a good idea. It even went on to tell how a person in the state government is sponsoring a bill to ensure that kids grades 8-12 are taught water safety in the school and have access to pools. Again,  good idea. And how they are going to use public funds to give black children free access to swiming lessons and pool access. STOP... Only black children?  Why? Because as indicated in the news report... black kids aged 10-14 have a  7.6 times greater risk to drowning than white kids...  and this discrepancy of black to white is just another disparity of discrimination that needs to be addressed. I get the swimming safety issue ... but why only not for every child.  BUT HOW IS THE FACT OF MORE BLACK KIDS VERSES WHITE KIDS DROWNING A DISCRIMINATION ISSUE? YES there are discrimination issues. But why is everything claimed to be discrimination no matter the circumstances? It seems to be a catch all phrase applied to any disparity.

They reported that the prisons are filled with more black prisoners than white and its discrimination. Wait... Could it be that more black people are committing more crimes? How is this discriminatory?

Just something to consider.  The more they report any disparity as a discrimination issue, especially those that clearly NOT discrimination,  THE MORE SOCIAL DIVISION IS CREATED ADDING FUEL TO THE FIRE OF REAL DISCRIMINATION.  The more they perpetrate the idea that nothing in life is fair for black people, the more social division widens.... resulting in more non black people resenting everything being labelled as discriminatory.

While everyone would clearly want all discrimination to end... Everything socially is done to perpetuate more social division and the resulting belief that everything is discriminatory.

One final thought.... It's annoying to hear about  "white privilege" as if it absolutely applies to all whites and hinders all blacks. I'm sure there are issues... But it clearly is NOT absolutely to everyone. I never got any special privileges or considerations for anything. I worked and earned everything I've gotten.  In fact, working for a company that had business with the federal government,  they observed "affirmative action programs". Which was to promote equality in promotion opportunities,  but actually promoted reverse discrimination against whites.  The written order for consideration for promotions were as follows, regardless of qualifications and experience. Black men,  black women, other ethnic minorities, white women, and lastly, white men.

STOP making everything a discrimination racial issue.

Just a different perspective.  Y'all have a great day.
