Bionic Hearing ?
We are in the middle of farm country, off the main road. It is super quiet here. During the daytime maybe a car goes up the street evey 30 minutes. We might see a small plane once a week, or a train whistle once a month if the wind is blowing the right direction. No traffic, no sirens... no sounds ... just birds, and an occasionally a cow.
Absolutely quiet zone.
At night time, laying quietly in the bed, ready to fall asleep...
I have discovered the ability to ... at least selectively... to have bionic hearing. During the day I have mild mannered hearing which my wife classifies and extremely selective. Go figure.

Bionic hearing is elevated to super human abilities. I hear everything no matter how faint. Tingling of the wind chimes outside. Leaves calmly rustling in the gentle breeze. The refrigerator compressor kicking in. Even the hum of electric. And rarely I think a distant airplane or train.
Problem ... take forever to fall asleep, wake up all night tossing and turning hearing everything.
Solution: sometimes I even have to use noise cancelling headphones to stop hearing... and go to sleep.
