Disney Atmosphere Restaurant
Lots of Restaurants at Disney are themed with with a good atmosphere for an enhanced dining experience. One of our favorites is in Epcot, World Showcase, Mexico. Enter the Mexican Pavilion to experience a quaint village under the night sky filled with stars. All inside the ancient pyramid. This is especially nice on hot days... The cool atmosphere takes away all the heat & crowds of the world outside. You get to enjoy Mexican culture, the gifts shops, and a nice cooking boat ride which is fun and entertaining. To even enjoy your visit even longer, enjoy a good meal at the restaurant.
Backstory.... We went into the pavilion and decided to eat at the restaurant. We didn't have a reservation but decided to check on walkin availability. The guest in front if us had a reservation but was 2 hours late. The seating receptionist explained that being late that she would try to work him and his family in but there would be a wait, possibly 45-60 minutes. He was as about as rude and agrumentative as he could be to the lady. Listening to him rant for several minutes telling her the he was entitled to special privileges and she didn't know how to do her job, he left in a hurf complaining as he left.
We couldn't believe how he was acting... Pardon my french as it were, just another asshole being obnoxious and abusive.
We were next in line... Thinking we wouldn't get in except for a long wait, if at all. I started the conversation by saying that its a shame she has to endure rude behavior for abusive people. I mentioned to her that were didn't have a reservation, but wanted to see if we might be able to get in for dinner, and that we would understand if we couldn't. She asked us if we'd mind a short wait. I replied certainly not... Anything you could do would be greatly appreciated. She escorted us to a small waiting area... small but cozy with a sofa, chairs, and well decorated. A mere 7 minutes later she cane to escort us to a table for two, right up front on the water overlooking the scene of the pyramid and the volcano beyond. Couldn't have asked a better table. Just goes to show you that a little kindness and a caring attitude goes a long way.
The service was excellent and the meal was a solid 8/10... which by Disney standards is the best are going to experience.
All in all... a great experience... And a lesson learned about kindness.
