Close to home

Everywhere... Close to home.

Illegal drug use among teens. They say that kids are smarter than previous generations.  Well, perhaps the potential is there, but in reality the social environment negates all the positives of the opportunity to be smarter, and emphasizes all the negatives.
Given more opportunities of a technical world that we never had, kids today have very negative concepts by which they live.

They deem themselves to be invincible.
They want what they want,  when they want it.
They are right...  society, especially grown ups, don't know anything.
They believe bad thing happen to someone else... Not them.
They are offended by anything not to their beliefs.
They have the belief that any and all of their actions have no             consequences.
They lack social skills to communicate and deal with others   effectively.
They lack the ability to let things go.
They live for controversy and drama.

And all these things lead to a lack of good judgment.

Close to home... use of illegal drugs without consequences is proving every day to have dire consequences... and with the highly publicized dangers of Fentanyl, and the deaths that result... It's hard to understand how they do not make more intelligent decisions.

Close to home... drug sale and use in the local high school out of control. The most recent school lock down comes from a 17 year old girl,  with her whole life ahead of her,  bought and used fentanyl laced drugs and was found unconscious in one of the school's restrooms.
Three teens were arrested for setting the drugs.

It was reported (unconfirmed) that she died in the hospital.

A tragedy for her, her family,  and her friends.
All avoidable and unnecessary.

Why do kids think... It can't happen to them?
Why are they not smarter?

Yes a tragedy... But I feel much more bad for the family and friends. The kids that die... They made a irrational conscious choice to do something highly risky... plagued with possible death, but did it anyway.

What worries me the most.  I have three teenage grand daughters that think this same way... it can't happen to them. One does weed regularly ( possibly other things) with the misguided belief that it's safe. Another occasionally.  The third... Uncertain.
The explanation... They know the person they buy it from,  and that person knows who they buy it from,  and that person trusts the seller.... Who gets it from someone they trust.

Mess with my food?

Mess with my food?

DON'T MESS WITH MY FOOD...
NOT EVEN KIDDINGLY.

Fast food survival?

Fast Food Survival?

Most times... it doesn't seem likely.
Prices at their highest.
Quality at its lowest.
A care and preparation is terrible.
And they don't even care that they don't care.

Even tables service "fast" restaurants...
Red Lobster, Tuesday's, Chili's, Olive Garden,
All going down hill on quality & service.

On the light side

On the lighter side...
I need one of these...
Just like this one.

Pretty cool.

According to the universe

According to the Universe

As science learns more about the natural cycles of the universe, our solar system, and our Earth and Moon... the news for the future seems bleak a to human life here on our home planet.  The good news: in the whole scheme of things, those changes occur on such a grand scale of time that mankinds existence is not too precarious.
Human existence in terms of time verses the earth,  we are less than one drop of water in the oceans.  The concerning facts indicate that earth is over due for some catastrophic changes that will greatly impact human life.

The good news: there is little to nothing that can be done prepsre for those catastrophic events, which may or may not happen in your lifetime, so there's truly no need to worry about it.

Our sun cooling so that earth heads toward the fate of Mars
Millions of years ago,  Mars was in the sweet spot of life,  and the earth was to hot,  totally volcanic.Sometimes in the future Venus will be in the set spot,  and earth will be a frozen planet.

Yellowstone Super volcano eruption.
Life Extinction asteroid impacts.
Severe climate changes.
Polar ice melts, ocean levels dramatically rise.

Then there's the entire relationship of the earth and moon. The moon contributes to the earths physical functions. The moon influences the spinning of the earths core. The earths spinning core creates the earths magnetic field, sheilding the suns harmful rays, protecting our atmosphere.  Sometime in the future catastrophic climate changes will change human existence. The earth is overdue for a cycle where the earths magnetic poles will reverse. It's a cycle that occurred over and over again in esrths history.  The transition period of several thousand years will see massive extention levels until the earth stabilizes once again.

Keep in mind that in earths history,  over 99% of all life on earth has gone extinct during several events.

So human existence is indeed very precarious and totally at the mercy, or lack there of , of the earths natural cycles.

Again,  the good news... this occurs in terms of thousands, and hundreds of thousands of years. So humans are currently enjoying the sweet spot of human existance, which may have many eons of time remaining... Or maybe not... again precarious.

What we consider severe weather events or changes is just the minor Prelude to more catastrophic events looming in the future.

Science is searching for earth like planets that someday,  given technological advancements for space travel, may provide a seeding of human life else where, before total extension on earth occurs.

But there not much comfort in knowing that if its possible, only the smallest fraction of humanity will be saved.

But not to worry... Probably not in our lifetime... And you can't do anything about it anyway.

Of course there's the theory that alien intelligences may return to save some of humanity... And will they deem that humans are indeed worth saving. Religious and cultural beliefs say that god or gods will return to save the righteous.

The current outlook: live life, go on your merry way, there's nothing you can do anyway. Advise: don't buy water front properity in Florida, especially Miami. New York city and long island wouldn't be a good choice either.

Yep... This is what happens when you watch too many nature & science shows, and read too many science books.

As for me... I'll have another coffee after enjoying the winter night sky with the full moon.  Breakfast with bacon sounds good too.

Y'all enjoy your day. Smile, and don't think about things beyond your control.   Enjoy life everyday.

NFL PLAYOFFS

NFL PLAYOFF GAMES

THE FINAL PLAYOFF WEEKEND

49ers vs Eagles
Mostly disappointing game...
Eagles - 31... 49ers - 7

Eagles... game on.
49ers... clearly not their best.

Bengals vs Chiefs
Good game... Exciting
Chiefs - 23 ... Bengals -20

Both teams had moments of greatness
Both teams had critical mistakes
Both teams suffered bad calls.

Both teams evenly matched.
Several tied scores,  right up to the final seconds.

It's kinda a shame that the win came down to
one team making a mistake,
the other team gets advantage,
and wins in the final seconds.

While there were several mistakes made by both teams,
The only one that will be remembered is the last one.
The Bengals unnecessary roughness penalty
Pushing the Chiefs 15 yards closer to make a last second field goal.
46 yard field goal vs 61 yard... if missed...
It would have gone to overtime... anybodys win.

ON TO THE SUPER BOWL

The questioned was asked.

The Question was Asked...

What part of history
that considered to be fact
is clearly fake.

Were does the list end?  But here's some highlights.

COLUMBUS did not "discover" America. 1) Native Americans were clearly here first.  2) With respect to Europeans, Columbus was still not the first to come to America... The Vikings were here first. Basically, Columbus was lost but sea,  landed on an island, and was rescued / saved by the natives. But since the powers to be at the time... England, France, & Spain, wrote the history... There you have it,  Columbus discovered America.

IN FACT... Mostly all history is written by the most powerful or the victors... Written and justified from their perspective.

Europeans migrating to the Americas deemed all Native Americans to be Savages, and therefore justified their eradication... generally from religious convictions / prejudice. Then systematically took everything from them... their lands, their culture, and their lives... all justified by religion as they wrote history to their own advantage.

Advanced ancient knowledge that science can not explain... but science disputes alien visitors that shared that knowledge with ancient peoples. Knowledge not scientifically proven as being true for over 1500 years later. Science writes history as to its limited scope of discovery.

Ancient structures built with incredible engineering knowledge and ability, that can not be explained even by modern engineering other than to say that it took thousands of people decades, even over a hundred years, to build something on the most impossible way. Engineering abilities not even possible today.  But science again discounts intervention of beings not of this planet.

Even today... world leaders justify their actions for wars... after all, they won, so they write the history.

Politicians are very much the same.  Truth is their version of reality twisted to justify and control perception.

And that thing about apples & doctors... And carrots & eye sight... Totally bunk.

Then there's the millions of planets, thousands of galaxies... and the probability of intelligent life on other planets is extremely high... but science dismisses the possibility of aliens visiting earth in the ancient past, or anytime. Go figure.

Plus many more...

Wrong?

So... What's wrong with this picture?
Just something to think about.

It costs 106,000 per year per inmate to keep some one in prison.

200,000 sentenced to life in prison
Times an conservative average of 35 years. Lifetime....
106,000 x 35 x 200,000= 742 billion!

Every year... total for all in prison.
Total in prison every year 1.4 million.
1,400,000 x 106,000= 148 billion/ yr.

Over a span of 20 years it costs  tax payers over 3 trillion dollars.

Over 50 years (in todays dollars)
7.4 trillion dollars.

Leftover Bacon

Leftover... Bacon?
Never heard of that kind of bacon.

A wonderful life on the road.

When you talk to people
they say it's every ones dream.

But... few actually plan to leave

For a life on the road.

1960s vs 2260s

Things have gotten much better
In the next 300 years.

But... ?

Is it just me?

We are barely half way through winter. The big box stores are already getting in summer merchandise.  Pool floats.
Does anyone else find this poll float to be something other than what was intended? Or is it just me?
I guess we'll know for sure when that time of the month  year rolls around again. For me,  this float is a hard pass.

Winters grip

Winters Grip. In the valley,  this winter has been fairly mild. No snow, no freezing rain. And most nights are barely below freezing.
Knock on wood!

It's quite a different situation up on the mountain.  Shenandoah national park... Skyline Drive. Winter storms,  freezing temps, snow, freezing rain, ice and high winds & downed trees have kept most and sometimes all of the drive closed.
