Given a choice

Given a choice...

Growing up in the 1950s verses today.

More times than not, with everything going on in society today,  I can't help that given a personal choice,  I still would have preferred to grow up in the 50s. Today's young adults and kids have no concept of appreciation for the multitude of opportunities and technology that is so common place today. They have come to appreciate nothing and expect more things to be given to them as a right rather than something to a work hard for. Social skills on how to interact with others and how to accept anything different from their own opinions is only maintained by their animosity an anger at seemingly everything. They don't know how to deal with differences other than to totally condemn anyone that thinks or acts contrary to what they expect,  and can not even simply talk to each other to understand or reach common ground on any issue.  Everything is a controversy that will never be resolved.  Everyone is rude.  And they are offended by everything,  even if it doesn't remotely affect them. And,  it's getting worse all the time. Social media makes any bad behavior seem appropriate and encourages it. And the ability to communicate in person is lost to the worse form of communication... texting.

Politics & Politicians are worse than ever. Government is nearly out of control.  Religions are ever more intrusive in influence government and laws. And the news media is so bias and have an agenda for everything. People use to think on their own... Now they are told what to think, how to feel,  who to hate,  and blindly follow those that would negatively influence their lives... Without questioning anything.

So... As for myself... I was glad I grew up in the 1950s & 60s. It's a sad world that kids grow up in today.
