Ancestors

Ancestry...

In today's world, full of records and internet footprints,  it seems hard to understand that the past holds few records beyond a few generations. Beyond my grandparents basic information, little is known. For that matter, little is know of my parents prior to me being born. Research yields very small bits and pieces, for every answer, there's twenty more questions that will never be answered. Not knowing makes it seem like a huge part of my life is missing.
Sometimes
I think that some time in the future, after I'm gone and can't answer those questions, just maybe they will look at the records that I left behind to find answers. In reality,  they will probably continue to be so involved in their own lives that they won't give anything another thought until they get older, much older, when there will be no answers.
Perhaps that's the negative side of the american society. No one uses the life experiences and knowledge of the elderly. We are just there. Becoming more invisable with each passing year.
But back to ancestry.  Maybe its good not to know everything, that way hopes and impressions will always be positive.

Only if you had access to know more.
Only if they could talk to me.
