Rewrite

Rewrite... You can not rewrite history.  And although history is written through the eyes of the victor... facts are indeed facts... and can not be rewritten.  History can not be simply blotted out as if it didn't happen. History is simply what it is... History. If you indeed have lived through what shall become historical events that personally affected you by those events, you may have every right to be upset or emotional over what happened... either positively or negatively.  You have to learn to live with it,  make peace with it,  or live in anguish over what has happened.
Historical events that happened over 150 years ago has not touched anyone that is alive today. Nor has it touched the lives of recent relatives... There has been no impact... positive or negative on recent generations.  Any impact from events over 150 years ago spans back eight or more generations.  No one alive today has even remotely been impacted by those events.  It's HISTORY.
So why do people today,  faced with all the issues of today,  find that they are being negatively emotionally impacted by events from 150 years ago. Generations that were effected 130-150 years ago have long made peace with those events,  or long since died,  taking their anguish to the grave.  So what compels people today to have emotional issues for events from 150 years ago? What ever it is... It's not history.  Deep seeded resentment for their own position in life... Failure to achieve their own wellbeing and happiness... And looking for something or someone to blame.. Rather than assuming responsibility for their own failures.  They are offended by events from 150 years ago... The civil war... And any remembrance of it.
It's well past time for politicians,  the government,  the courts,  and society as a whole to stop catering to those that are offended by civil war history and tell them to get over themselves. Get a life. Stop blaming history for your failures to achieve your own wellbeing and happiness. History is what it is... PAST HISTORY.  And like anything else in life... If you don't care for something... Don't involve yourself in it... Get on with your life somewhere else,  doing something else. Be happy.
Remember those that fought and died for their beliefs... Preserve the Union... Southern Governing Rights. NOT for the political agendas of the southern government, its leaders, and its wealthy land owners. While slavery was the political issue of the war the overwhelming vast majority of troops, north or south, were NOT fighting over the slavery issue.
