No crab ... crab cakes?

No crab, crab cakes. That's kinda like saying porterhouse steak made with no meat. So what's a no crab, crab cake made from without crab meat. Well, with certain dietary restrictions or preferences I can see the need or desire for something that imitates the beloved Maryland crab cake. Vegetables and traditional seasonings give  something that in the loosest terms resembles a crab cake. But to call it a crab cake is an abomination of the truth. Perhaps it would be more acceptable if they just called it an imitation crab cake... truth in representation. In any event, dietary preferences and restrictions aside, I prefer the real thing, made with jumbo lump crab meat. The real thing... last two pictures at the end... yes!
