In the news. Principles, controversy, and consequences... with a bit of hidden agendas thrown in to get the desired outcome.
FIRST THE PRINCIPALS we all got'em... but as we all know, in the real world sometimes principles can be costly,  sometimes very costly. If you have an a major issue with what your employer does, is it worth loosing your great job over your principles? Most would say yes. But as the cost gets too high, lets say a job making 6 figures, will your principles be silenced? And will your principles cost others, and not just you? Sometimes yes. So with principles,  there's a time and a place, and consequences if not done realistically. 
THE CONTROVERSY... So you have principles and express them in the wrong place and in the wrong way. The more more people you offended, the bigger the controversy.
THE CONSEQUENCES:  The bigger the controversy, the greater the consequences... a the greater the effect in more and more people.  It's like a chain reaction or a virus that spreads like wildfire. Creating more and more social unrest and division.
HIDDEN AGENDAS: Yes, there's always someone that benefits from others people's losses. There's always those that either start or add fuel to the fire. What's their benefit? Monetary, emotional,  or simply malicious mischief... Perhaps all three, but mostly greed for monetary gains, and of course power. 
MANIPULATION:  Yes, the intimate tool to get emotional people to do exactly what you want,  to get what you want. They are masters of manipulation, exploiting the unsuspecting emotionally charged people to unwittingly do their bidding, usually to the detriment of many others. Pawns in a game in which everyone looses, except for the master manipulators.
SO HAS THE NFL, THE TEAMS, AND THE PLAYERS been guilty of the right principles presented in the wrong place, in the wrong way, or victims of manipulation and emotions. Yes, without question to both. Who will suffer the consequences? Unfold thousands beyond those on the football field. Players... They've made their millions. Owners... They've made their millions upon millions too. Everyone even remotely relying on football attendance, tickets, apparel, memorabilia, and collectibles will suffer financial losses. Not to mention the fans that simply want to see football without the unnecessary controversy. 
So while the principal of black lives matter invades football creating untold controversy and consequences, the with no measurable positive effect on the core principle... they have selfishly affected catastrophic negative consequences to others for their actions. They have done much more harm than good.
THAT'S WORTH REPEATING... THEY HAVE DONE MUCH MORE HARM THAN GOOD.

Sci-fi

Remembering Firefly.  A sleeper sci-fi show that only lasted one season, later followed by one movie. During its first season the show was lost somewhere in the scheduling and never caught on. After the show was cancelled it grew in popularity and reached sci-fi cult status. Your only recourse now? Netflix. 
But, as you can tell. I didn't have a favorite character.

So now with Halloween preparation barely underway...
Christmas stuff is already showing up in the stores.
It's still September for goodness.
I remember Christmas stuff waited until after Thanksgiving.
But I guess its good to plan ahead.
Start early, in you leisurely free time, no rush later!

Red or White

Red or White? A dilemma that I battled with through my twenties and thirties and sometimes even the my forties. When I was younger it was always red. I my twenties   I found white. Back and forth... red verses white. Both were good,  but only one would emerge is being great... white. Yep, definitely White.
Red crab soup verses cream of crab soup. The only thing they have in common is crab.
Red crab soup is based on beef & tomatoes with vegetables... the crab was both loose crab meat as well as claws and cleaned 1/2 crabs. And naturally spices, mainly "Old Bay" seasoning.
White crab soup.... cream of crab... Naturally is based on cream (half &half). Here's the basics...
Combine half & half, chicken broth, real butter, and seafood bouillon in large pot. Slowly bring to a low boil, stirring constantly. Add spices and Old Bay to taste. Thicken with corn starch (or flour), slowly adding and constantly stirring.  Turn off the heat. Add jumbo lump crab meat  and stir in very slow as to not break up the crab meat. Ready to serve! Soft hot breadsticks makes a great addition.
Last pot I made ... You'll need scale it down...
1 gallon of whole milk,
1 gallon half & half,
40 oz can of chicken broth,
1 pound of real butter,
6 Seafood bouillon cubes,
Salt, pepper, spices, and Old Bay
(be careful with the Old Bay... a little goes a long way, and it will become more prominent the next day, you can always add more to individual servings later).
6-8 pounds of fresh jumbo lump crab meat.
Warning: the larger the recipe... the longer the stirring... Constant stirring switching hands... my portions this time... a full hour of stirring... but worth it.
Like I said... scale it down less you'll have enough for a big family reunion and spend $160 to make it.
Enjoy... and watch as each spoon of delicious cream of crab soup brings a smile to the faces. Delicious.

Hot topic... hot issue... NFL  Football & protesting.
This issue today is resulting from POLITICALLY MOTIVATED SOCIAL ISSUES.
1. Can someone explain to me how disrespecting the flag and anthem equates to the issue of black lives matter.
2. Given the fact that the media, any media is willing to give a stage to any sports person to speak their minds on any issue... why do they do their protesting on the job  in a national forum.
3. While working and thus representing their employers, why would the employer allow any one to protest a controversial issue while working.
4. I can assure you that anyone outside of sports, that deals with public exposure,  that they would be warned about expressing personal feelings and protesting any issue while working, representing the employer. Beyond the warning, they would no longer have a job.
5. There is a time and place for everything. While working, representing their employer, on a national stage as football, it's not the place or time. What gives athletes a special exception that no one else enjoys while working.
6. Diluting the issue: The NFLs official response, as well as some of the teams, is to sight community involvement and charity work. BUT what does that have to do with the issue if disrespecting the flag and anthem? How do they justify controversial behavior by sighting unrelated issues.
IN THE COURT of public opinion just look back at what was accomplish with the entire Kaepernick issue? Kaepernick lost, The 49ers lost, the NFL to a smaller degree lost... And now the NFL wants to up the ante and involve themselves entirely, as well as involving all the teams in the controversy.  Do they think that public opinion is going to be any less harsh this time around?  Or will public opinion be even more harsh because they are simply, completely,  and utterly fed up with the nonsense.  Freedom of speech has a place... There's a time and place... and its not on the field. Football is suppose to be enjoyable. Not a rehashing of political social issues.
