Yes... I'd do this! HOAs have a purpose... but when the gods, lords, and karens on the HOA council have nothing better to do. They pick on every little thing. I always liked it when they made new rules and try to enforse it on a pre existing condition ... and I can politely tell them to pound sand. 

The best interaction. The rule says... no sat dishes on the front of the house. 
My dish went in the front of my house (only place I could get a signal) BUT it was 24 inches off my property line on county properity ( not in the jurisdiction of the HOA). So they sent me a letter. I sent it back saying I don't have a dish on my property in front of my house. They sent me a second letter with a photo of my dish... and said I had 7 days to remove it or be fined $50 / day for non compliance. So I replied once again.. I don't have a sat dish on my property in front of my house. They came to my house... two little gods and one Karen to confront me. Sorry... I don't have a sat dish on my property. They pointed to the sat dish and asked... is that yours? Yes... But its not on my property.   They said we can see it. Yes you can, but it not on my property.  It's 24 inches off my property on county property... out if your jurisdiction. They said they were going to get a survey crew it verify. Go ahead, waste your money... And by the way... if I get another letter from the HOA , my lawyer says that it's harassment... and that would worth money to him and me. Get off my property! NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN.
