Hardships

Hardships on Society

Today's younger people will never know social hardships on the public at large... or be emotionally prepared to deal with any hardship looming in their future.

Myself, through my parents and grandparents, I could know and understand social hardships that affected everyone.

Merely one generation before my grandparents, my great grandparents knew the hardships of the civil war. Over 600,000 casualties that died in the most horrific way.

World War I... my grandfather servered.
World War II... my father severed.
The hardships on society, not only in war for lives lost, by shortages of everything... rationing of everyday items,  learning to do without many goods and services.

Then the Great Depression... Unemployment, inflation, shortages, rationing, emotional dispair beyond belief.

The Korean War... The Vietnam War. Terrible losses of life. The emotional toll on the public.

Gasoline rationing in the early 70s.

Today's younger people know little of hardships, neither from wars, or its emotional impact on supply and services. They have every modern convenience that we never had growing up... and take it all for granted. They think it's the end of the world if they misplaced their phones, or the battery dies... and of they don't have internet, the it life is over.

So today's young people will be devastated if or when modern conveniences & technologies, and services are not available or greatly curtailed. Especially since they have the overwhelming belief that life should be fair and they are entitled to have everything. Everyone should believe as they do, and they have the righteous feeling to be offended by everything.

Someday... there will be a rude awakening.
Everything they think they are entitled to
Could disappear... gone.
And Life isn't fair.
And society owes you nothing.
