Technology 70+
So where has technology gotten me?
From then to now... Everything in between.
The meat & potatoes of the process. Let's start with music. Radio ruled the day... first only in the house as table models, which were the next step after the free standing floor models. Next, was house bound vinyl records... recordings of your favorite groups. 33-1/3 and 78's referring to the speed they were played in the RCA Victor turntable. BTW everything was "mono", "stereo" sound was invented later.
Then 45 records followed and stereo play was the new standard for all records.
The next leap... Okay a small jump forward, was the transistor radio. Small, portable, and you could listen to radio station music anywhere. AM frequently only, mono, with 3" speaker that had sound quality barely above that of the 2 cans & string.
Real to real recording/players (in home only) set the next stage portable tape players. 8 track tapes for cars. One piece of magnetic tape on a continuous loop divided into 8 segments... tracks, sealed in a plastic housing. BTW... plastic was the new manufacturing marvel.
The next improvement was "Cd's". Smaller than 45's... Compact Discs for house, car, or portable player. Stereo fidelity was far more Superior than those vinyl records that could easily scratch and little by little became degradated in quality. Better than cassette music magnetic tapes that also would loose their fidelity quality.
But wait... Everything is always technologically improving. The next great revelation in music was MP3's. Now the choices were totally in your control. Download music and create multiple playlists. It couldn't get any better than this. You could put all time favorite songs... 1,000 songs on a S/D card the size of a postage stamp.
But... IT CAN... streaming music. At home, in the car, on a portable streaming devise, and on your smart phone.
So what's next?

Plastic was replacing metals & glass in nearly everything.
The next music improvement was the stereo cassettes. Your favorite groups/songs in a small portable tape that could be played in the house or in the car. Later followed by portable cassette players thanks to Sony. Cassette player/recorders made it possible to make your own personal playlists with multiple groups and songs.

So what's next?
One thing is for sure. I bought and paid for songs and albums multiple times. Lp records, 45 records, 8 track tapes, cassette tapes, CD's, MP3's, and now streaming.
Not to mention all the equipment, hardware, and software, and batteries to enjoy each of those formats.
Funny how they talk about illegal copies as piracy. Not considering that most have paid for the same music several times over.
And just think...
Things that today's generations
They freak out if wifi goes out,
