Once real, or entirely mythical?
There is a multitude of things that were believed to actually exist that science discounts them simply because there is no tangible scientific evidence. Real or mythical? How do we know that science is sometimes wrong? Things that were once discounted by science, for a lack of evidence, over time have been proven to be real scientific evidence is discovered. So what was once mythical is sometimes proven to be true as scientific evidence is discovered. So who is to say what might be true.
As for dragons... Who knows... myth today... proven real tomorrow?
Even so, dragons have a place in history, if only from a mythical perspective.
