Guns and violence...

Three Groups

No gun control.

Ban all guns.

Gun control limitations.

The two extremes will never meet...

Never have,  never will, 

And will resolve nothing.

Nothing!

First reality:  

no matter to what degree gun control laws are enacted... criminals will still get guns...

And commit violent crimes with guns.

Just like drug addicts will still get drugs.

But controlling how regular people get guns

Through tighter controls

which just might save some lives.

Probable only a small percentage

But save some lives.

Higher age requirements. 
Types of guns sold.
Better screening requirements. 
Social monitoring of the warning signs

for those that are emotionally unstable, 

and those that make threats of gun violence.

But this is only a small part of the solution. 
Protocols for schools that are implemented 

and actually followed all the time.

Protocols for security and police procedures

that are followed through with consistently. 

The toughest thing to over come...

Social attitudes in a climate where social media 

makes every action, including violence, 

self justified because people feel that they 

are offended, or emotionally hurt,

and anything not to their liking

should be condemned and acted on,

Up to and including violence.

The outlook:  not encouraging. 

Of course,  it doesn't help the congress is 

lobbied, and paid to make sure that there is 

no gun controlled laws enacted.

Congress.... Business as usual.

Yes, 70 years old.... 840 months.... 25,550 days.

Oh my god.... ... Where do I start?

First... Where did the time go, and how did I get here so fast? 
Statistically, 40% of your childhood friend have already died.

Another 20% have a serious health condition. 

Thinking about my own mortality... Occasionally. 

TV & movie stars you grew up with are dead or insanity old.

Those hot girls and women are now,  well, bursts your bubble. 
Good looking sexy women are in their 20s and 30s... 

... what was I thinking... Their young enough to be my grand daughter. 
Technology is passing you by,  and you no longer care. 
All prices envoke an "oh my god response".

Why do they say new car loan... isnt that really a mortgage? 

Growing up oldies music was the 50s & 60s... now its the 80s & 90s.

There are no new and exciting foods... just old favorites. 
How does retirement mean not having enough time in the day?

Why is it so much easier to get hurt?

Where did all these prescription pills come from?

Why did I walk into this room? (repeat all day)

Warning labels... can people be that stupid? 
Doctor, doctor, give me the news... Do I really want to know? 
Why is the print in this book all blurred?

Just like in the movies... passing gas just sneaks out without warning. 
You are lucky to remember that you need to remember something.

Go to the store with a mental list, come home without half of it.

All tasks somehow become complicated, especially the easy ones.  
Years after retirement, you still get up at 5am... Everyday. 
Big issues you can handle, small crap not going right... crazy annoying.

Joints hurt every time it rains. 
Falling asleep watching tv... wide awake in bed (dark& quiet).

Social interactions are nearly non-existant.

New years eve is at 9pm. 
Doctors always say the same thing.... loose weight & drink more water.

It takes 3 days to wash the RV (40' fifth wheel) use to take 1/2 day.

On a positive note:  you appreciate nature more than ever. Probably because you have more time to watch the grass grow... and the birds at the feeder. And that grass... Cutting it certainly keeps me too busy.

I'm sure there's more to the list... Just came remember. Go figure. 

I Wondered

Looking back... For 6 years... 2 years before the Trump election... and for 4 years during the Trump administration... George, with every breath (at least on tv), trashed anything and everything about Trump. Of course he wasn't alone. 6 years non stop! 
So after the Biden won the election, I truly wondered what George would do once Trump was gone. 
Funny... he never criticizes Biden for the many shortcoming... bad decisions... or lack of taking decisive action before things got beyond bad. 
But I digress...

So what is George doing with all his time now that political bashing is bit on the agenda?
