The Fountain

The Fountain of Nations... Epcot

Since the opening of Epcot, the Fountain of Nations has been a show case feature of Future World. It all started with the Opening Ceremony and the Dedicstion by Countries of the World that each brought water from their countries,  pouring them into the fountain. Since then, the fountain has not only been a beautiful place to simply relax eajoy the show.  The water jets were highlighted with colorful lighting synchronized with the music, and was a place for family photos, year after year. On hot days the cool water mist would come as a welcome relief on hot days. And at night time, the fountain with lighting and music created quite a show while enjoy a quick meal,  ice cream, or simply a much needed rest from all the walking. A quick bite at the Electric Umbrella offered a seating area with a good view. It was also a good place to rest after shipping at Mouse Gear, a favorite gift shop.

Of course all of this is gone now.  All demolished for a future project.
At this point,  I find it hard to understand how the loss of the fountain... that had such prominence as an important symbol... dedicated as the Fountain of the Nation's... So could be so casually dismissed and demolished... gone forever, except in our memories.

Disney re-invents attractions, updating or replacing old ones with new and exciting ones.  And in many cases demolished features to build new ones. Many things have disappeared over the years.  Most for the better. Some things questionable and hard to understand.  Years ago,  the entrance to Tomorrowland had twin water fall towers on either side of the pathway.  Ever futuristic. Torn down and replaced by the rocks that are there today.  Progress is sometimes questionable.

The old and the new.

No matter the changes... We will always have memories.
