Disney Transportation

Disney Transportation

First there the buses... It is what it is. Sometimes necessary.  Best service is to and from the premium resorts, particularly the ones closest to the park you plan to visit. Usually over crowded sometimes standing room only.

The monorails,  fast and neat ride.  One system takes you from the ticket and Transportation Center to Magic Kingdom. Another monorail rings the loop between the Polynesian Resort, The Floridian Resort, the Contemporary Resort, and Magic Kingdom. The third system transports guests between the ticket and Transportation Center and Epcot. All in all, fast and futuristic rides to get around on.

The Skyliner system is the newest mode of transport with connections from Pop Century Resort and the Caribbean Beach resort to Epcot and Studios.

Our favorite mode of transportation is the boats. Boats connect the Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness Campground, and the contemporary to Magic Kingdom. They also connect guests from the Polynesian Resort and the Grand Floridian resort to Magic Kingdom.
Boats also connect Disney Springs aka Downtown Disney, to the Key West Resort, Port Orleans French Quarter and Port Orleans Riverside.
Boats also connect the Epcot Resorts to Epcot and Studios. Short boat rides will also get you across world showcase in Epcot.

Of course there's always attraction boat rides not only to enjoy the ride,  but escape the heat on hot days.  Pirates of the Caribbean, Splash Mountain, and the Mexico Pavilion in Epcot.

Our favorite boat ride was the small boat from the Wilderness Lodge to Magic Kingdom, which we used quite frequently.  Bending the rules a little,  were would park at the Wilderness Lodge to have breakfast or lunch,  and take the boat to Magic Kingdom.  It also made it very easy to avoid the crowds at Magic kingdom closing. So the boats were not only a relaxing ride, that generally have little or no wait times.
