Priorities

Priorities... Specifically Congress.

We should all take solace in the fact that 

"Congress believes" 

that they have nothing else to 

occupy their energy and efforts.

Never mind inflation.

Never mind supply issues.

Never mind gas prices.

Never mind border security. 
Never mind even simple things like

Annoying telemarketers call blowing up phones.

Clearly none of this matters to Congress

So,  what are they focusing on?

They are concerned about Amazon

and Amazon Prime and how they promote

their own line of products over others.

And how 2 day delivery is not fair to

other sellers that choose not to sell via Amazon. 

Really?  Congress?

But then again the reason is clear. 
That are getting paid for their votes.

3 congressmen walk onto a room.

Yes,  behind closed doors.

That's where they work the best. 

One says they want a pass a bill. 
The others say that sounds ridiculous. 

The second says he want to pass a bill.

And again,  the others say that's absurd.

The third wants an equally absurd Bill passed. 

They all agree... This is all crazy. 
But wait... If I help you, and you help me,

we can all make a ton of money on this.

So, there they go... promoting each others bill.

And the American public is screwed once again. 

That's how Congress works. 
Their only priority is special interests

And taking money for their votes. 

Amazon doesn't need fixing...

There are other more important issues

That need their attention.

Maybe Amazon should oversee Congress! 
That's something needs fixing!

IT'S THE END OF MARCH and we are still getting winter weather.  Yesterday snow,  today slightest sleet snow mix. Last night 22°... now, low temperature 32°.

Just north of us...

Yesterday snow, causing 50 vehicle accident pile up.

( and not a good one) 

The Separation of Church and State.

Religion should not be allowed to influence laws.

At least that what the founding fathers wrote. 

Yet... Religion lobbies Congress

to enact laws to their beliefs,

and FORCE their beliefs on everyone. 
Countless issues. 

But to each their own beliefs.

Religions would be the first to rebell

If they had their freedoms put in jeopardy,

and were told what how they should live.

And what about judging others? 

It was once said...

If they want the right to influence laws,

then they should pay taxes for that right.

It's a new day... 

And a opportunity to make new memories.

 

Resolution

Resolution...

Why am I making a resolution? Not being happy with a particular situation.  The process...  examine a problem or issue... Determine a desired result... And make a plan to achieve the desired result.  Of course, the first action is to determine if the change is obtainable. Some things are within your ability to control,  and some things are simply beyond your influence. If they are in your control,  your make a plan.  If you can not control something you have to ways to proceed.  Avoid it,  limit your exposure to the issue,  and if not given a choice, learn to live with it and not have it negatively affect you. 

So to the issue at hand.  Watching television news... Always a mixed bag covering a multitude issues that never seem to end or ever be resolved. The news media, as it covers Congress always shows them being a emotional auguementative vindictive uncooperative group that creates more turmoil and controversary while solving nothing. Does it really serve the public at large to show congress in the worse possible light? After all,  they are the leaders of the country and should be held in esteem... right?... despite their appreprehensible behavior, corruption, special interests, and inability to truly solve problems to benefit the citizens that voted for them to make life better. This is not too good to instill confidence in the ability of our government. Shame on the news media.  And here I thought that the media was bought and paid for by politicians. 

Oh... Wait... Perhaps,  just maybe... The news media shows congress for what they really are.  Rather sad... Our government at work. No wonder that nothing good is expected of politicians and government.

And yet... We collectively keep voting for them.  Who's to blame now.  

My resolution... STOP WATCHING THE NEWS.

It's a Mystery to me. 

Walts Plane

Neat... little known fact:

Way back when Walt Disney was traveling at the beginnings of Disney World, he used his plane which landed right on properity. And in the beginning,  private planes could actually land at the Disney airstrip to visit.  The airstrip was just adjacent to world drive before the magic kingdom parking lot. It was only used for a few years and the landing strip is still there,  mainly used for storage.  Walts plane was at Studios as part of the back lot tour, currently just sitting in a field. 

Working?

I thought it would be nice to work after retirement.  Not a lot,  just 15-20 hours a week. Lots of places to make a little extra spending money. I could live with the income restrictions from social security,  but since my wife is still on OBama Care, anything I make increases the cost of her insurance... too the point where I'd be working for less than half of what I'd earn between income taxes and the increased OBama Care premiums. Go figure.

And while each may have some merit

at least in theory and intent,

They have one extreme effect...

they create even more social division, 

more controversary, more prejudice, 

and more resentment & animosity.

Mad angry people against people.

Sad... very sad. 

Being mindful

Being mindful and aware... As you get older. 

Getting older has its challenges. Being mindful of everything you do... Especially the simple tasks and everyday stuff. Thank goodness we have the experience to know how to do things safer ... Just need to think about things... Even simply everyday things. 
Things that use to be automatic without thinking now require attention... Like walking down steps. Minor fix it projects. And projects requiring power tools.  But no matter how careful you are, and how much you think about safety, there's still going to be something stupid and unforeseen happen. Followed by the surprised expression of OMG.

I was recently cleaning up the yard... raking leaves and pine needles. An old rake with a wooden handle.  Left hand pushing the bottom of the handle to the right, right hand pulling the top of the handle to the left (towards myself). Snap... break... the rake handle breaks in half. The top of the handle wacks my in the side of my head...ouch!

Simple stuff.  Of course no amount of fore thought could have prevented this. Nevertheless... ouch ... it hurt... And the thought I'd I should have somehow known better. Add to this,  someone seeing you hit yourself in the head, with a stick.  They say that laughter is the best medicine... Even if it's the other person that just saw what happened.  The rake now has a metal handle. 

Simple stuff. Think about safety... Then think about it a second time. 

Y'all be safe out there.

You would think that in today's social climate that companies and businesses would refrain for getting caught up in sensitive controversial issues.

Time and time again companies, or more accurately their owners or executives openly support one side of a hot controversial issue... which has proven to be a no win situation for that company. 
And while it's hard to understand why local businesses like restaurants would express support for one side of an issue, knowing that there will be negative ramifications for their actions by those on the other side of an issue... So why would large companies do this? 
Given that almost every issue has considerable support on either side of any issue, it would seem foolish to alienate any group which could adversely affect your business. Lost business and revenues, and in some cases even having picketing and demonstrations outside their businesses and affecting then negatively.  
So why... Why would any business or company choose not to remain neutral to avoid problems? 
You would think that they would be smarter.

Enter Disney...
