Who's stupid here?
Who's taking advantage?
You really can't blame the resellers even if you don't like what the end results will be. Will people really be desperate enough to pay $270 for a $25 item? Well, to each their own. All I think of is the old saying... a sucker is born every minute.
Who really looses? Normal kids that can't get into the park to buy it. Or can't wait seven hours in line with family while on vacation. Or are not blessed to independently wealthy to pay $270 without any thought.
A smart move for Disney, if they were considerate of the normal Disney fan, would be to not only create the "craze", getting resellers to purchase hundreds on the first day, but the next day flood the market with on a disney store shopping site with the same item for the original price of $25. Hooray for the little guy, and their kids.
My Overall impression... It's all insane.
Lines seven hours long... Incredible.
Who's taking advantage?
Well, I guess there's several different perspectives. Disney sells something for $25... Several hundred people buy them for the $25 Disney price... And the same day they are for sale on Ebay for over $200. Highest price, $270. That's quite a profit.
So, what has happened? The average person that wants this item, probably for their child, will not be able to ever get one. Less they wait seven hours in a line to get one right from Disney.
Disney created a "craze" for an item that people want, people really want, kids really want. Part of the craze is for Disney to create not only the want and need, but create the collectability of a limited availability of the item. So not only will normal people buy this for their kids, but more importantly hundreds will be sold to resellers on the idea of making his profits. For Disney it's a win / win situation.
