Lessons learned in life...
Some lessons are learned early in life. Some later in life. So, the best way is to learn early. Knowledge begins in your early years... wisdom is how you apply that knowledge to your daily life. Happiness is just as much a frame of mind as it is circumstances... Perhaps even more so.
In 8th or 9th grade, the teacher ask the class what they wanted to be when they grow up. One by one answered... policeman, fireman, doctor, lawyer, etc, etc. When he got to me, my answer was "happy". He relied... " I don't think you understood the question". I replied... " I don't think you understood my answer". It didn't matter what I was doing, where I lived, or who I was with... I always wanted to be happy.
And with the exception of my first wife, I always could find happiness.
