Day one

Day one of the new year...

Day time temperature was mild and filled with clouds and mixed periods of rain. As darkness fell, the clouds moved on.  There's no moon tonight so the sky is completely black... except for the stars which seem exceptionally bright against the dark sky. Life in the country means no city lights radiating up into the sky... So there's complete darkness on moonless nights.
It's still 56° outside... So I decided to take several minutes to star gaze. Staring at the stars is somewhat mesmerizing. Across the ages, men have stared at the stars, these stars, that haven't changed since the beginning of time.  You feel a bit of a kindred spirit with all that looked at the stars as the concept of time crosses the boundary of the ages. Beyond the feeling of being someplace that no one has been in for thousands of years. Sensing that for this very moment,  you are sharing a view that someone viewed thousands of year ago.
Unchanged in time. The stars exist in a boundary where the concept of human time is but a split second in the billions of years to the heavens. Nevertheless, taking the time to gaze at the stars, refreshes your very being... as any cares of this world slip away. But maybe this is simply my imagination... But regardless, it creates an all powerful sense of peace to my soul.
Hope you can take some time to star gaze and perhaps enjoy this same feeling... If only for a brief time.
