New Monorails for Disney World. It seems that the long awaited, and long anticipated replacement of the WDW monorails is going to finally come about. Having read several articles from several sources it seems that the rumors are true. The fleet which originally numbered twelve (lost the pink and purple monorails after the crash... the two made in to one), has lived a long life. In fact they say that they have well exceeded their expected length of service. Mechanical issues with the current fleet are becoming more frequent and more severe as breakdowns are becoming routine. Replacements are needed. As time has marched on, Disneyland replaced their fleet several years ago with a much more modern updated look. And even though the beloved monorails at WDW have intrigued guests for many years, I have to say the the Disneyland version is quite appealing in design. Seeing the latest version of the Bombardier Monorail was somewhat disappointment in appearance. It just doesn't look like Disney. Nothing magical about it at all. Then in another article it was indicated that Disney maintains a certain design image that they consider to be uniquely Disney, unlike any standard design currently being built. So I expect a design similar to the Disneyland version. Quite a relief from the standard Bombardier version currently in production. Here's s a few photos of monorails from WDW & Disneyland, and the snub nose that's in just in cities. Judge for yourselves. Can't wait to see the new WDW versions.
