Gourmet meals? Not even close! Growing up in the era of Tv dinners was a mixed bag. Some things were tasty, some were nasty, and although seemingly an escape from liver & onions, anything with green peppers, or the vast majority of vegetables that you hated.... Tv dinners had their own down falls. Peas & carrots... yuck. Mushy corn... yuck. And mystery deserts that either defined explanation, or simply was too little to even get a good taste. But, Tv dinners were quick and easy for mom. And when in sale at 2 for $1, the price was right. Not sure why they were called Tv dinners when you either sat in the kitchen or dinning room no where near the Tv. Then there was the Tv trays/ tables... Obviously the concept of eating your tv dinner on the TV tray/ table while actually sitting in the living room watching TV... well, that was lost on my parents. Nevertheless, tv dinners was a time that came and has almost went. Yep, you can still by them, and they look the same... yuck. But now they come in a disposable plastic type tray. Of course the modern day versions like Stouffer's or Marie Calendars really aren't too bad. Not quite gourmet, but leaps and bounds better than those good old tv dinners of yesteryear.
