Logic has not place in the English language.
Numbers... so... if...
Nine +10 = NINEteen
Eight +10 = EIGHTeen
Seven +10 = SEVENteen
Six +10 = SIXteen
Four +10 = FOURteen
Should?
Five +10 = FIVEteen
Three +10= THREEteen
Two +10 = TWOteen
One +10 = ONEteen
Or if 20s - 90s include the sub number...
Twenty ONE
Twenty TWO
and so on....
Why doesn't
10 +1 = tenONE
10 +2 = tenTWO
where does eleven or twelve come from?
Plus, given the elementary concept that we have 10 fingers tat we count on as kids, and ten is the easiest thing to multiply by... Then why oh why, do we have 12 inches in a ruler and all the accompanying divisions in measurements 1/4s, 8ths, 16ths, 32nds, and 64ths... omg. Plus all the totally irregular measures that followed... yards and measurements of a mile.
