Weather

Weather... A Hot Topic
(pardon the pun)

Living 70 years gives you lots of first hand perspective on how the weather has changed over the years.

Watching the scientific shows on weather, reading about how the weather had changed over the years.  Knowing that the earth has cycles in climate change. And yes, we are experiencing climate change. And while in many cases its destructive and devastating, it always seems to come as suprise... questioning how this could happen.

Summers are getting hotter and more severe.
Droughts are more frequent and severe.
Wildfires are more frequent, numerous, and consuming larger areas.
Flooding is more frequent and severe.
Earthquakes and landslides more frequent and severe.
Violent storms, tornados, hail, and wind damage.
Hurricanes and volcanoes world wide.
Winters, colder and more snowfall.

And all these are weather events are related, many interacting as a result of the other. What are called once every 100 year events...catastrophicry 10-15 years. Redefining the reality and the perception of climate changes. Yet, it comes as a surprise.

They keep building homes in high risk areas. Wildfire areas. Flood areas. Ocean front areas. Earthquake and landslide areas. Towns built near volcanoes.  In the news today,  a town that years ago experienced seasonal flooding. So they built a dam to control flooding.  Now with a 100 year rain event, the town is flooded, but will survive. But, there is a danger of that dam breaking, destroying the town. Thinking man can control nature.. and will eventually loose.

Sooner or later, catastrophic events will be the normal occurances.
Severe Weather... Air pollution, water contamination, food / crop failures, viruses, and possibly wars... all loom in the future.

Eventually... If man doesn't kill off the majority of people (war or virsues) ... The natural evolution of the planet will. Tipping the balance in nature and how it affects humans and wildlife.

Of course there's planet killing threats from space.

The good news. Most won't be alive to see it.

The current high temperatures.  Stay cool, stay hydrated, stay indoors or limit outdoor time. 100° temperatures can kill.
