Getting Old...
Getting old. It's a lot of things... Most are not a good thing.
First and foremost you become invisible. When you are with family gatherings... kids and grandkids seem to notice you less and less. Partly because they have their own life and interests, which you don't share. Or they enjoy a drama infused life, which you want no part of. In any event, you can be in a room filled with family and you are completely invisible... And generally remain that way because you can't get a word in edgewise in anyway. You see yourself as being younger, and feeling younger (15-20 years younger) ... But everyone sees you as being older than you really are (15-20 years older).
Retirement by nature breeds isolation. You enjoy carefree days while everyone else goods to work or school. Alone again... Naturally.
All your life experiences and advise means nothing.

Technology moves along faster than you can keep up.
You become less active, less included, and more isolated.

Add in health issues that make you less active... More isolation.
And the problems of the world, all it's issues... To much to care about our get involved in all the drama. Mindless and senseless... Don't want or need to deal with any of that drama. Self isolation.
Making new friends your age? No incentative. More self imposed isolation.
Social media that once provided a common thread is fading away.
And the more time you spend in isolation... well, it only brings more isolation... self imposed or otherwise.
Note: The more you enjoy nature and the simple things in life... The less others identify with you. Their lives are much too busy or drama filled to slow down and appreciate nature.
Pushing 70... mentally feels like 50.
