Recall Disaster... CPAP

PHILIPS CPAP RECALL DISASTER CONTINUES

It all started 5+ years ago. When Philips discovered that their medical cpap had a serious issue with the foam in the turbine chamber was breaking down. Foam that released toxic fumes and cancer causing particles, that their equipment was pushing directly in people's respiratory system and our lungs. This situation and the risk to patients was not made public... as in a cover-up.
In June 2021 the cover-up got out... And Philips issued a voluntary recall. As opposed to having the government issue a recall which would impose stricter recall requlations. So Philips controlled and issued the recall.
The recall has been nothing less than a disaster for millions of patients.
18 months later and the recall is closed to the beginning than the end.
Millions are still waiting for replacement units. Philips plan was to send out cheaper made Dream Station 2's, that where rushed into production preparing for the impending recall. And the patients that got the DS2's would send back their recalled DS1's for refurbishment, to be sent out to perpetuate recall replacements. Some patients that had 6-18 month old DS1's, got refurbished DS1's that were scratched up, dirty, and were 3 to 5 years old. Some people were lucky, some were not. I was one if the lucky (?) ones that got a brand new DS2. It's a cheaper made unit which has less functionality, and doesn't preform as well as my old DS2 which I sent back. Someone will be lucky to get my refurbished unit... it was in pristine condition and a little over one year old.

It's hard to believe that the government is not being proactive in this recall... letting Philips administer and oversee the recall without governmental oversight. Even more so, there are still patients that don't know about the recall. Philips doesn't have to send out recall notices to patients,  and there has been almost no media coverage to inform patients using the Philips equipment.

All in all,  the recall is a disaster.
Phillips knowing in advance and covering it up.
( putting users at critical health risks)
Philips quickly making cheaper replacement units.
Philips doing voluntary recall before government intervention.
( to avoid strict government control)
Government not activity taking control.
Media not getting the word out.

Why is the government taking control to regulate the recall?
Is Philips paying politicians to keep the government out of the recall?

Lots of questions... information...
