History has always been one of my favorite interests. And while history is many things, there is just as many things that it is not... the unbiased truth and facts. Written history is primarily from perspectives... usually that from the perspective of whoever was the dominate or wining side. The same events will sound completely different if told by different people. Generally, the dominant source from history is the winners in any war or conflict... or from religious sources. And the accounts of what happened follows an agenda or the philosophy those that seek to justify their beliefs and actions. After all, no one would want to record that they were unjustified in what they did or why they did it. So, history is very subjective as to the truth, facts and interpretation of events.
Much is the history of Europeans as they invaded the Americas... especially the history as it relates to native north americans. Europeans took what they wanted, by any means they deemed righteous, and justified it when they write the history that we are thought today. To the winners, the victors of any War goes the rights to record history from their perspective.
This is well documented by religions over the centuries. More people have died over religious beliefs than anything other conflicts in human history... And then justified by the their recorded history.
Given 300 years of recorded history... European history in America... Everything was justified as native Americans were swept aside... yes killed... And their lands taken from them... a conquered people. And history justifys everything.
This is how history has always been written... And no doubt, always will be. From a one sided perspective.
There's some, but little confort to learn of native American people, their culture, and their true history, before the European invasion. Having said that, it's nice to see some credence given to their history.
