The word Stupid. Not very nice... but sometimes accurate.
There's all kinds and levels of stupid. "L1, L2, & L3"
L2: There's the nice & naive person that has a heart of gold and wouldn't hurt anyone. They go through life almost repeatedly doing stupid stuff getting hurt or simply making bad stupid decisions. I feel for this person. They are willing to accept help or advise to do better... they just can't logically avoid doing stupid stuff on their own. They deserve our consideration, understanding, and help. And they certainly don't deserve to be labeled stupid. Be kind, have compassion, be a friend.
L1: There's the momentarily stupid things that average intelligent people do without thinking. We all do it sometimes, and we know right after we did it, it was a bad idea and make a mental note not to do that again. Such is life. We shake it off kiddingly and don't make a big deal out of it... nor does anyone else except for a light comment and laugh.
L3: Then there's the reason for all the stupid jokes. Incredibly they go through life from doing one stupid thing to another. No common sense. Not careing who they hurt. Not willing to accept help or advise. Not willing to accept anything logical and even argue that their stupid way of thinking is absolutely better than anything. Impulsive emotional drama fill reactions to everything that doesn't fit into their ideas of how things should be. Throw in carelessness and stupid becomes dangerous to everyone else. And there is no limit to the stupid things they are capable of doing, over and over again and again. And when they gather together in large groups, the sky is the limit for doing stupid shit. Beyond help. And rightfully deserved of stupid jokes... which in all seriousness is not really just jokes but real actions with real negative consequences.
So, given the two extremes... There are those that simply can't help it, and those that live for being stupid. One you can tolerate and be considerate for and offer help or advise. The other that is beyond all help... knowing that they will hurt or kill themselves... And you hope they don't take anyone else with them.
Be careful how you apply the "stupid label". But when it's deserved, go for it.
Like the famous saying.... " stupid is as stupid does" .
I just wish they would quit rewarding the "L3" stupid people that think warning labels don't apply to them, and they don't care who they hurt. They may even realize what they are doing is dangerous... But do it anyway... Repeatedly.
Burned by hot coffee... sue the coffee shop. Can't follow directions, get hurt, sue the manufacturer. Make stupid decisions, get hurt, not their fault, sue somebody. Nothing is ever their fault.
So they are the real reason for all the stupid jokes... Some people deserve the label. Not that it matters to them because they will despite everything, continue to do stupid shit. Dumb and stupid... Dangerous combination.
Truly have no tolerance for Level 3 stupid people. Beyond help.
But that's just my perspective... Think what you will.
Ps: If you belong to those in the L3 category... I'm sure your perspective is completely contrary to mine. Go figure.
