Robots have always been a part of science fiction before it was even called science fiction.
Clunky mechanical robots to aid humans in dangerous places and popular in space sci-fi movies and shows. Able to physically do what humans could not. Go where humans could not and calculate data faster. Like most science fiction, reality catches up to make sci-fi become reality.
Artificial intelligence can think faster than humans, and combining it with life size, life like robots, is the stuff that sci-fi is made of. Becoming more of a reality, they are amazing, and a bit un-nerving. Perhaps even a bit scary if the think of all the futuristic movies that portray negative effects towards the human race... the inferior human race. Where they take control to save us from ourselves, or decide that humans are not worth saving. Then there's the upside of combining or put a human consciousness into a robot that could virtually live forever. Everything about a individual... Thoughts, emotions, personality... our very mind and being that makes us... us... Could be lived in a robot. And I'm sure if nothing more than a thought right now, there will be some "mad" scientists working to do just that... put the human consciousness into a robot.
For now... This is the next step. Life sized, life like, robots that are given artificial intelligence to respond and think independently of initial programming.
