Changes... Something evident with each generation. As the world changes, so does the influence it has on each passing generation. Being 4 generations removed from today's kids it's hard to see and accept kids today and what they are exposed to that becomes part of their behavioral personalities. Each preceding generation has no doubt thought the same thing... but it certainty seems worse than ever today. Even teenage grandkids seem to be having to grow up too soon being exposed to a influences that they are not emotionally prepared or experienced to deal with. The list seems to grow ever larger everyday. Complicated by the fact that kids think they know everything there is to know, after all, they are the internet generation.
They know everything. They are offended by everything. They are emotional about everything. Add to this the confusion as to their sexual Orientation. They want to be treated as if they are twenty something while being 15 or 16, thinking they have the world in their pocket. And when things don't go to their liking or beliefs, they are emotionally devastated, distraught, and unable to logically deal with anything. They emotionally wallow in negativity as if it's the end of the world. They are wrapped up in world and social termoil instead of just being kids and enjoying life. Worse yet, no amount of concealing or talking actually gets through to them. As much as you'd want to help them understand and emotionally deal with the issues, the more they get consumed by the termoil. As for myself, I feel helpless to council them... It is a futile effort.
This is the new generation that will be the next adult generation. Scary.
