Fields of Corn

Country Life... endless fields  of corn.

By day beautiful...
And as the sun sets...
A bit erie...

Then your imagination kicks in...
Perhaps even a bit scary.

But the children don't seem to mind...

It's a mystery

It's a mystery... well, they all are. Over the years there's been multiple remakes of Agatha Christie's movies. I've enjoy them all. My favorites were the remakes that stared Peter Ustinov. The latest remake stars Kenneth Branagh as the famous sluth Hercule Poirot.
I really enjoyed Murder on the Orient Express,  and am looking forward to Death on the Nile,  now set to release February 2022.

Hurricane Horror

Hurricane Ida.
Catastrophic tragedy in Louisiana.

Told to evacuate days ago. Faced with catastrophic damage.
Hurricane force winds with guests over 150mph. 174 mph recorded in one location.
Extremely Heavy rain 8-14 inches... 20 inches reported, tidal surge up to 14 foot, flooding and flood damage in most places... flooding from levees failing.  Extensive damage to buildings making them habitable and functional.
Faced with no electric for several weeks. No water. No food. No facilities. No local medical care. No phone service. Extremely limited emergency services.  Isolated and cut off due to roads being inpassable. No gasoline, no schools, no food. After the storm, help will be limited and long coming. Life will not be normal for months. Faced with enduring and surviving the Cat 4 hurricane, and the devastating aftermath, why would anyone stay? Nothing will be livable for at least weeks. Over one million are without power.
Now... Many have to be rescued and will have to leave their homes anyway. Hard to understand why they stayed.
Certain a tradgety. Heavy heart from all those affected.

Changes

Changes... Something evident with each generation. As the world changes, so does the influence it has on each passing generation. Being 4 generations removed from today's kids it's hard to see and accept kids today and what they are exposed to that becomes part of their behavioral personalities. Each preceding generation has no doubt thought the same thing... but it certainty seems worse than ever today. Even teenage grandkids seem to be having to grow up too soon being exposed to a influences that they are not emotionally prepared or experienced to deal with. The list seems to grow ever larger everyday. Complicated by the fact that kids think they know everything there is to know, after all, they are the internet generation.

They know everything. They are offended by everything. They are emotional about everything. Add to this the confusion as to their sexual Orientation. They want to be treated as if they are twenty something   while being 15 or 16, thinking they have the world in their pocket. And when things don't go to their liking or beliefs, they are emotionally devastated, distraught, and unable to logically deal with anything. They emotionally wallow in negativity as if it's the end of the world. They are wrapped up in world and social termoil instead of just being kids and enjoying life. Worse yet, no amount of concealing or talking actually gets through to them. As much as you'd want to help them understand and emotionally deal with the issues, the more they get consumed by the termoil. As for myself, I feel helpless to council them... It is a futile effort.

This is the new generation that will be the next adult generation. Scary.

Rving on hold

Right now... traveling in the rv is still on hold. We still enjoy living in our rv, its been home since 2003, but with some medical issues (knee replacement of both knees, and a few other surgeries), and then the pandemic, and the continuing covid flair ups... it seems prudent to stay safe and stationary for while. Florida and the southern states seem to be in the grips of the pandemic once again and its better to be safe than sorry. With barely 50% vaccinated it seems fool hearty to jump into that mix for exposure. So here we are, still enjoying the country life in the farm lands of Virginia... somewhat isolated from high population areas. We are both vaccinated, but still cautious.
So right now traveling in the rv is simply fond memories. The best times our lives. It was also nice to retire at 49 years old when we could truly enjoy the adventure. Hopeful that this is not the new normal. We enjoyed so many wonderful places and adventures... doing new things and meeting new people.  It was a great way to retire early and enjoy life.
Y'all have a great day.

Favorites

Here's one of my favorite fun songs from back in the 1980s. Yes, I'm old, and even older than that... I still enjoy songs I grew up with from the 1950s. It's not one of those songs that you sing along to, you couldn't,  it was sung entirely too fast... if you still remember it. I'm sure you can find it on a streaming service to hear it once again. But here's the lyrics in case you forget or never knew. It's just always been a fun song for me. And sometimes... ya just need a fun song!

Absolutely NO! ...

Don't know where thus is at...

But the answer is absolutely no!

Those days are well over.

Missing out...

Communication... Missing out.

Wife: Did you want some bacon?

Me: What did you say?

... (Silence)...

Me: What did you say?

Wife: Nothing!

Me: Was there bacon?

( Silence)

Mountain Time

Mountain time sunset. Nothing quite as beautiful as watching the sunset from on top of the mountain. Looking over the Shenandoah valley and to the mountains across the valley. All the colors changing... and the sun dropping down behind the far mountains.

Priceless view from here up on Skyline Drive.

Majestic

Magestic old homes, some dating back to the late 1800s. Virginia is speckled with old abandoned homes. Most are old farm houses that are abandoned for decades, simply left to have nature reclaim them.
But, Some homes bring about lots of questions. Majestic old homes, mansions, that had to be magnificent in their day. When were they built? Who built them? Who lived there? Wouldn't it have been nice to see them when they were in pristine condition. How could they have been abandoned and left to the ravages of nature? Who walked away from such a magnificent home? Why has no one ever restored them before it is totally destroyed? It's simply abandoned.  Imagine the history it had, and the stories of could tell. Now just wasting way. Seems like such a tragic loss for was once a beautiful home.

On my mind...

On my mind... Everyday... Halloween.

But keep my enthusiasm in check

Nice T-shirt!

What?

What were they thinking?

Or maybe its just me.

Pool float.

Summer ☀

Summer... yes, still alive and well. Mid 90s everyday. Some early planted corn is already dried out. Other fields are tall and green, and some are barely 2 foot tall. Sunflower fields are really pretty.

Signs of the fall

Signs of the fall?
OK, maybe just slightly.
Some corn fields are dried out.
Evenings, not cooler, but spooky
( good imagination required )
Bats in the twilight sky.
( Bats are always scary )
Scarecrows look scary.
( No imagination required )

Lunch +

Lunch... plus dinner. Calories?
Healthy? Questionable.
Delicious? Absolutely!

Sorry...

Sorry... We're all out of wine.

Favotites

Morning favorites... Coffee, and my favorite mug, and hot sauce for my scrambled eggs and home fries.
