Your fathers legacy

and you.

Funny how there are many of our live choices are inherited from your grandfather and father. Foremost, is those that followed in the footsteps of the fathers.  Policeman & Firemen seem to be the most pronounced. The grandfather was a policeman... their father was a policeman... and they grew up to be... a policeman. Three generations,  perhaps more. I guess psychologically there's something to sell this. 

The same seems to be somewhat true of the military. Grandfather... Father... son. There was World War I, then World War II, then the Korean War... the tradition of military service changed. The Vietnam war... Extremely unpopular. Perhaps the most opposed war by the population at large. That's where the tradition of military service ended for me. Vietnam... the most unpopular war. It changed the complexion of military service... at least by the popular perception at itvrelated to Vietnam. I was one year too young to get drafted. Then  my draft number was 73... They had already too 1-50 in the draft. Then the draft ended. And I remained a civilian... in between wars.

But I honor my grandfather... WWI

and my father... WWII

and all those that have ever served,

and are serving now.  

Taking nothing away from all that serve,

Some current wars have questionable. 
We only know what the politicians & media tell us.

And what can you truly believe. 

Just something to think about. 
On this hot summer day.
