Old Age Gauge

Old Age Gauge...

Here's how it works...
As they announce tonight's performers.
The older you are, the less names you know.
Or
The less names you know, the older you are.
And so it goes...
Yep... I'm old... but not that old.
Recognized half... yea!
(maybe a bit less than half)

(Note: if you can't recognize any names... really, really old.)

Ps: Too many  s-l-o-w  songs...

Our Moon

Our Moon...
Something to think about.
Is it all a cosmic coincidence?
Or by some design?
And if by design, by who?

The sun is 400 times the size of our moon. Our moon is exactly 400 times closer the the earth verses the sun. So, both the sun and the moon appear to be exactly the same size in our sky. This same relation in size occurs no where else in the known universe. That's quite a coincidence. If not for the moon and its magnetic pull and gravity, the earth as we know it would not exist. Our moon makes life on this planet possible. It not only controls the tides, but because of its gravity, it keeps the earth core spinning, which creates the earths magnetic field which shields us from solar radiation and keeps our atmosphere in place. It also keeps the earth on its proper axis, creating the seasons. So all the things,  including life on this planet, and human development, could not exist but for all these interactions between the earth and the moon. Again... merely a coincidence? Add to this, ancient accounts of beings, referred to as god or gods, visiting earth to influence and aid human development. Again, something to think about. Could we be the great experiment by beings not from the earth,  as ancient writings and religions document?  Was the earth and moon planned out by design. If you believe that this was all created by god, or gods... Than the impossible coincidence of creation becomes more unlikely.  It was once said.... Once you eliminate the impossible, no matter how logical or scientific the evidence or lack there of, all that remains is the improbable that must be the truth.
So, who designed and created the moon and its relationship the the earth? Some day, all may be revealed, when they return, as promised... And will they consider mankind to be a failed experiment?  They say 99% of all life on earth that one existed has gone extinct. Planet killer meteors that wiped out the dinosaurs. Global flood that eliminated all the failed early humans, saving the ancestors of modern man. Pandemics thinning out the human existence. All merely by coincidence?
Just something to think about on this rainy day.
In either case, when you get the chance, go outside and just be mesmerized by the moon, just as mankind is done for tens of thousands of years.

Christmas Spirit

Thanksgiving is over, and Christmas decorations are underway. The Christmas spirit is on the rise. Not quite ready for Christmas music,  but the decorations and lights have us having in the right direction.

Now... After two days of decorating... cool, rainy, and gloomy weather is putting a damper on completing decorations, and the holiday spirit is starting to wean. Looking out the window ... Somewhat depressing. Forecast... Better days tomorrow.  Looking forward to decking the halls, the walls, and anything that isn't moving.

But for today... pizza! Always a bright spot.

Trimming the Tree

Trimming the Tree...

Decorations are proceeding for Christmas
Trying to get in the Christmas spirit.
So far... So good.

A word about food related ornaments.
And while...
These are a few of my favorite things...
Seeing them on the tree,  all the time,
It's had to understand...
Why am I hungry all the time?

Idoeno!

Flashback... Personal

Flashback... On a personal level...

Vans were everywhere.
Custom Vans.
1970s into the 1980s

This was my van...
Not the custom paint as others...
But a lot of fun.

Creative Billboard

Not much to look at during the day...
Then the sun goes down...
And the lights come on.

It begins...

And So... It Begins...

The Old... The New...

The Addams Family

Not enough!

When phone calls,
and texts are not enough...

Philips Dreamstation 2

The Dreamstation 2 Cpap

The Recall Disaster.
Started June 2020... still not resolved.
Patients are still waiting for replacement equipment.
Some have received refurbished DS1s. Dreamstation 1s are scratched up,  banded up, and 2-3 years older than their original equipment.
Some received the new DS2. Dreamstation 2.
Either way its a less than acceptable situation.

The DS2 has lots of faults and negative reviews.

For me, they sent me a DS2. GRESTLY LACKING in comparision to my original DS1. Every aspect of the physical features is less than the DS1. The readout is small and hard to read without glasses. The parameters that are set by the patient is greatly lacking in the menu. The water tank and the filter system is more cumbersome to use. And despite what some people say is much noisier than the DS1. The new design is smaller and sleeker and with a black finish, but I still prefer the DS1. For me nothing about the DS2 is any Improvement at all over the DS1.

Here's what some people are saying:

Being Retired

Being Retired...
It's all about...

Some Day...

Some Day...
This is just as improbable or possible as today's smart phones were 100 years ago. And as fast as technology advances... what will the next 100, 50, or even 20 years ... dare I say 10 years bring into the world of today... right out of the realmof science fiction.

Unconscious memory

Unconscious memory

Funny how you can unconsciously remember all the words from songs from over 50 yards ago. Or hear a phrase... and know what comes right after it.
After 36 years of hearing...
"And now, the host of jeopardy"
and you brain goes to the to...
Alex Trebek.

Even now that he is gone,
We will always hear in our minds
Alex Trebek.

And that's perhaps the best tribute of all.

Football Sunday

Football  Sunday...

Always great to watch good games.  Exciting games. Close games that change the lead back and forth. UNLESS it's you home team that always seem to play a nail biter. Especially when thay play teams with losing records. Lots of anxiety throughout the game on those nail biters... then especially disappointing when they loose. The Ravens seem to live in the anxiety zone in every game.
In past games our quarterback, that is hyped up beyond his ability and mental smartness to play the game, has been less than he needs to be. Three of the losses we solely on the shoulders of Jackson.
Repeated bad decisions, missed throws, and interception turnovers plague his performance.  Sometimes he is saved by his physical ability to run, which isn't enough to overcome his ability to make smart decisions and accurate throws.
Today... he had lots of help to loose the game.
And while we all rooted for the team, anxiety overshadowed the entire game. It's always great to win, even on an ugly game... but they really earned the right to loose for everything they failed to do.
The looses are not bad luck... It's over confidence and lack of execution... and bad decisions.
Maybe next week... They can all get their act together.

Generations

Generations on America...

European Americans.... With few exceptions, everyone goes on about their busy lives. Little us known about your parents and especially grandparents before your actual life experiences. Everything about them before you were born is mostly an unknown. And as you become an adult yourself and are interested in knowing more about their life, it's too late,  and they have passed away,  leaving questions that can never be answered. And beyond grandparents... Nothing is known except for possibly their names and birth dates.

Native Americans on the other hand, honor the elders, and have passed down information about the lives of previous generations... Ancestors kept alive in stories passed down generation to generation.

Parents and grandparents will not be around forever... And will no doubt be gone without warning.   Lean about them,  before they are gone.

Some things are simply...

Food Comma

Food coma...
Yes... That's a medical term.
Generally occurring on Thanksgiving Afternoon.
More Turkey?  ... Yes please!
Pass the gravy please.

This happens everytime...
Just prior to the clean up.
Go figure.

Not my fault!

Migration

Migration...

It's that time of the year...
Hundreds of geese in the air.

So why... Why are they heading North?

Making so much noise...
But beautiful noise.

Game day recap

Game Day Recap...

Bills vs Lions

It was a good game... Almost too the end...
Just under 3 minutes... Lions ball...
Miss used the 2 minute warning...
Miss used the clock...
Not using any of their 3 time outs to stop the clock...
Instead of playing for a touchdown with 2:43 on the clock ...
Mentally Settled to go for the tie at the 2:43 mark.
Bad play calls... but got the field goal.
Tie game.

Time on the clock... Bills go down the field
Bills get field goal... Bills win!

Lions... mis-managed and last three game.

Parades

Parades ... a part of holiday celebrations since the early 1800s and Modern parades for well over 100 years.   And while they are a traditional and nostalgic American holiday celebration... after my almost seventy years of watching...  There's not much to keep it fresh and exciting. It's accurate, at least for me, ideas more of the same old same old.   But it's traditional to have Macy's Parade on the tv on Thanksgiving morning. Also watched part of the Philadelphia Parade. Different and in some ways more interesting... but just like Macy's ... lots of bands... and lots of old performers, lots you've never heard of, and lots you don't care for. But again... Traditional.

So what's next?
Football and food!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving

It's a four day eating shopping weekend.  A time to celebrate the good life with family and friends... And everything that got us all to this point in life. Everything we enjoy and all the freedoms we have... And giving thanks to all those that served in the military to ensure our freedoms. And all those in the public services that protect and serve... The police, firefighters, the first responders for medical care,  as well has all these in health care.

So many things to be thankful for.

So,  the day starts with a good breakfast
And watching the Macy's Parade

Then comes the feast.

And so tips...
