Flashback

Flashback...
I guess each generation has what they look back at, and call the best decade. I was born in the 50s... yes, in the middle of the last century... Grew up in the 60s, great time to be a kid... But lived the 70s.
50s... Elementary school and fun with all the neighborhood kids.
60s... Middle school and lots of fun with friends.
70s... Graduation, first real job,  and first real car.

And when telling my grand daughter about the 60s & 70s... She asked "the 1860s". I wasn't sure if she was kidding or serious... seemed serious. Today's kids seem to have a very limited concept of history and time.  Again,  what are they teaching them in school?

But I digress.
The 50s, 60s and 70s. Wouldn't change anything.  Well, maybe one thing,  about that one special girl that always seem to elude me... But that's life,  and it all worked out for the better.

Yep... That was my first real car.  1973 Gran Torino with 351 V-8 Cleveland (Police) engine.
Life was sweet, and so was the ride. And as the song goes... " Those were the days".
That's one car I wish I had back.  Economically things were much better bah than.
Made $5.95/ hour... $12,375/ year... And the cost of a brand new car was $3,200 or about 25% of the yearly earnings. Today, cars start what you make in a year.  Do the math.

Those were the days...
